Wednesday night is one of the best of nights of the week to go out in New York City (NYC). Remember when Thursday was the new Friday? Well, now for NYC’s young and fabulous, Wednesday night is the new Thursday night! What better way to get you over the hump than partying it up on a Wednesday night? A big plus for partying on a Wednesday night is that only the real party animals come out, and the clubs don’t get too packed. However, most clubs, even if they are open, can be quite dead (unsurprisingly), so it is important to know where to go.
NYC’s Wednesday nightlife hub is on the West side, around the Meatpacking District, and you can party following these 3 simple steps!
3 STEPS TO PARTY IN NYC ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Step 1. PRE DRINK
Le Bain. Le Bain is also a club, but doubles as a bar in the afternoon and early in the night. It’s at the top of the Standard Hotel, as has killer rooftop views of the New York City skyline. It’s a great place to enjoy a cocktail, though it shall also make a dent to your wallet. There’s also a hot tub!
Brass Monkey. Brass Monkey is a multi-level neighborhood pub, a rarity among all the swanky bars, clubs, and lounges in the Meatpacking District. The rooftop is a great place to hang out when there’s nice weather. This bar is bustling all night long and is a great place to pre-drink before heading off to one of the nightclubs. Drink prices are friendly.
Step 2. PARTY
Marquee. Marquee is owned by the nightclub tycoon that also owns the famous clubs Lavo NYC and Marquee in Vegas, among others. It has an amazing sound system, killer LED screens, and serious laser beams to keep you going all night long. Their Wednesday night parties are the best in the city, so the club is packed all night long. The club is upscale, and although the door is not as tough as it usually is on the weekends, make sure you’re dressed to impress. The music is usually commercial house and cover is $20 (subject to change).
Cielo. Cielo is a musical gem of New York City, probably one of the most intimate venues for underground house music. It’s especially great on Wednesday night: It’s quite a small club, and the advantage of coming on a Wednesday night is that only the real house heads come out to play yet it doesn’t get too crowded so there’s space to dance. The quality of sound is top-notch. They even have a garden for people to smoke and socialize (most NYC venues have you smoking out on the sidewalk). Cover is free before 11AM and $20 after midnight.
Step 3. EAT DRUNK MUNCHIES
Artichoke Basille’s Pizza. Since you’re already around the Meatpacking District, you definitely have to go in for some drunk food at Artichoke’s Pizza. Their pizza is to die for: it’s thick with chunks of artichokes and gooey white sauce. Fattening? Yes. Worth it? Definitely. Artichoke Pizza is open till 5AM.
