Somewhat of a music-buff and techno-geek, Amsterdam local Ilia is a pro at juggling time-management between several acts and stages at a Festival.
Just back from a complete Dekmantel marathon, Ilia's memories are still fresh “my favourite moment was when Ben UFO started playing, moving the dance floor at the main stage in prime time. That was special. He kept the tension with his mastership and unidentifiable music”. Ilia is on a permanent quest of pure electronic music nights in Amsterdam. Here are his favourite local spots;
Favourite Club: The Melkweg dance floor – small and cosy. Warehouse at Elementenstraat also has perfect light and a good sound.
Favourite Festival: Zeezout & Buiten Westen. These had special visual atmosphere.
Dekmantel in one word? Valuable! I'll be back, and next time I'll strive to live in the camping to come to the festival earlier every day. Why? It's all about the Line Up selection by the Dekmantel crew.
Favourite Drinks: Green tea. Or, when alcohol – it's Jägermeister.
Favourite Music: Techno, Tech House, Electronic music in general and old rock music from 60s/70s.
When was your first techno party? Hm, if we're talking about pure techno, then it was a surprising techno DJ set from Apparat in a Warehouse kind of place.
Insider Tip: Amsterdam is the city where you can cycle to the party. So homemade snack hidden in my bicycle bag are always a win!
