Party with a Local Story #1: Partying from Amsterdam to Bangkok

Florian in Kuala Lumpur with Party with a Local users

In the end of 2015, we asked our Party with a Local users to share their best meetup stories. We received so many great entries of the ways Party with a Local connected people all around the world and led to epic party experiences. We'll be sharing 10 of our favorite ones over the next couple of weeks. This story comes from our German user Florian and how he has been meeting party friends spanning two continents.

So this is my PWAL Story, which expands over 2 continents, I’ll try to make it short.

So after downloading the app over 2 years ago in Amsterdam I met this crazy guy Michael, ended up becoming good friends, including him hosting me for 2 weeks in his flat after I lost my job in Amsterdam and got kicked out of their company flat (lovely people :D)

After I moved back to Germany countless visits at Michael's place followed (including a wicked PWAL-New Years Party 2013 and a wicked Mysteryland)

When I decided to backpack through Thailand with my girlfriend and a buddy, Michael spontaneously booked a flight to Thailand as well and joined us for the party.

As we stood on our balcony of our Airbnb flat in the State Tower of Bangkok (The one they filmed Hangover 2) overlooking the city, we started the PWAL App and saw a guy looking for people to join him to visit our exact tower.

So we texted him up, told him to bring at least 5 people with him to join us for a private balcony party. Dylan arrived with his group and we had a massive night out. I then became friends with one of Dylan's group and ended up traveling with him 4 months later through Malaysia and Singapore.

So this awesome app has had a fun impact on my last 2 years and I want to thank Michael for being a crazy friend and drinking buddy!
